RECRUITMENT AND RETENTION

Growing and strengthening our workforce

Maintaining a strong and high-performing workforce is at the heart of our mission to build healthy communities. Yet in recent years, a national workforce shortage has made it difficult to hire and retain the health care providers, technicians and professional staff needed to fill open positions in our health system. To meet this challenge, we are thinking differently about our workforce and implementing innovative solutions to develop, nurture and retain top talent.

In 2023, UVM Health Network was recognized as a national leader in workforce development, winning the CareerSTAT Frontline Healthcare Worker Champion Award. The award highlights organizations that create good jobs and build equitable places to work through an innovative assortment of career training and continuing education programs that serve both employees and members of the community.
