RECRUITMENT AND RETENTION

Creating a great place to work and grow

We are strengthening our recruitment programs to attract, engage and recruit the best possible candidates from across the country – people who share our commitment to provide high-quality care to the rural communities we serve.

Of course, we don’t just want more applicants, we want to attract the strongest candidates, even as a national medical workforce shortage makes the labor market more competitive than ever. That’s why we’re reinforcing our health system as a great place to work by offering:

Competitive wages and bonuses:

We continue to analyze compensation for positions across our health system so they are competitive in the labor market.

Remote and hybrid work opportunities:

We’ve put into place a more flexible approach to work that creates opportunities for us to staff some positions differently.

Diverse and inclusive environments:

We always strive to create an inclusive, welcoming workplace that fosters a sense of belonging. Among our many programs and initiatives, we support Project SEARCH, an innovative, school-to-work transition program for young adults with disabilities, where we offer training, education and internship opportunities across a diversity of professional areas.

Responsive workplaces:

Guided by regular employee townhalls, forums and engagement surveys, we’re responding to employee feedback and making changes to help our people feel engaged and supported in their work.

Workplace benefits like these have resulted in:

1,700 care givers and medical staff hired

between January and July 2024.

282 registered nurses hired

including 20 who transitioned from temporary workers to full time employees.

Approximately $2.1 million of overall savings

leveraging our shared buying power as a health system to control rates we pay for temporary workers.
